I stopped by the town hall in Peterborough to see the Tax Day Protest. It was a motivated group. Here are some photos of the event.
Allen Dulles, the fifth and longest-serving Director of Central Intelligence, took a personal interest in the construction of the Original Headquarters Building (OHB). He was the son of a Presbyterian minister and insisted that a Biblical quotation be fixed in stone in the OHB Lobby. The verse – “And Ye Shall Know the Truth and the Truth Shall Make You Free” – John 8:32 – now stands as the Agency motto. At the dedication ceremony for OHB, Dulles included this quotation in his speech. – Source CIA website
There are 117 stars carved on the wall behind President Trump, each representing an intelligence officer that had been killed in service. There are no names due to the secrecy of their work.
President Trump stood in front of that wall and delivered some remarks. He did not pay homage to the fallen, he did not explain the importance of their mission. He complained about the press .
“As you know, I have a running war with the media. They are among the most dishonest human beings on Earth,” – President Donald J Trump
I’ve been chided for not “getting over it” when he was elected. I was even accused of not being patriotic for blindly pledging allegiance to our new president. However he works for the American people and lives in our house. He needs to act with dignity and class and so far he is showing neither.
Fidel Castro once delivered a marathon 4 hour and 16 minute speech to an enthusiastic New York audience. He spoke of the AIDS pademic in Africa and the caloric intake of Cubans.
Fidel is dead but we have guy that loves rallies, he loves them so much he is on sore-winner tour. The crowd cheers “Lock her Up” and “USA”. Demonstrators get ejected, and the President-elect basks in the glow of their adoration.
He railed about the press, made fun of Martha Radditz for crying when he won, talked about Katy Tur “getting it wrong”. The audience of deplorables ate it up. I was suprised to see that the wall came back into his stand-up monologue. I assume this will be a high priority for his infrastructure initiative.
I guess this will be the new reality. Donald on perpetual tour doing his greatest hits. Ugh, I don’t like being part of the Apprentice Show.
The Commander in Twitter typed this today:
I didn’t vote for this guy, and I hope that we can survive under the Kakistocracy of his reign. However I have to ask in which recess of his adolescent brain did the idea that New Hampshire has SERIOUS voter fraud? I can vouch for my state. When we go to the polls we have to present a photo ID. We mark PAPER ballots which are read by an optical scanner. There is physical evidence of how we vote. Why does this guy have such a problem with telling the truth?
After he won the election I told myself that I needed to take a break. I was unhappy with the result and there was nothing else to do but donate money to the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, NRDC, SPLC, and ProPublica.
I told myself to stop blogging about the guy and posting to Facebook. But the guy is going after the state that I call home and that I love. Why pick on Virginia, a beautiful state? I was stationed in California in the Navy, what a great place. Why single that out? What the hell is wrong with this guy? Can you believe he actually won?
I have only questions, no answers. Sometime in the future presidential historians will write books about this. I hope I’m around to read them.
Sums up my feelings about this
The short documentary Little Dream Catchers takes us to White Earth Nation in Minnesota—the state’s largest tribe with over 20,000 members. There, communities have been affected by drug addiction and unemployment, as well as a loss of culture due to forced assimilation for hundreds of years. It’s a moving film that centers around the necessity of early childhood education when it comes to returning to the tribal language and culture. “When you’re told for 500 years your ways are evil, that damages your self esteem,” says the writer Gyassi Ross at the start of the film. “Showing the beauty of the language is a small dent in reclaiming that self-esteem.” In the White Earth Nation in Minnesota, preschoolers learn school readiness while engaging in tribal rituals, such as pow-wows, to prepare for kindergarten with a sense of identity. – The Atlantic Magazine
“All the problems we face in the United States today can be traced to an unenlightened immigration policy on the part of the American Indian.” —Pat Paulsen
We had our fight, but it’s not over for Native People and the proposed Dakota Access Pipeline. Sadly this story is not getting enough coverage by the press and it should.
How many time have you heard the term “Ground Game” applied to the politics? It refers to organizing folks to knock on doors and make calls for their candidates. Hillary Clinton is a flawed candidate, but she does have the “Ground Game”. Recently I saw it in operation when I attend the annual Labor Day Parade in Milford, NH. Milford is the ideal venue for Politicians, it has an town oval that concentrates folks and has what might be called good “optics”. The Democrats were there in force, driving around on a truck bearing the Teamster Union Label. Lots of banners and even balloons. No sign of Trumpsters and folks like Kelly Ayotte didn’t bother to add his name to their banners.
